I was at home the other night in the middle of my dinner when the phone rang.
ME: Hello.
AT&T: Hello, this is AT&T.
ME: Is this AT&T.
AT&T: Yes, this is AT&T …
ME: This is AT&T.
AT&T: Yes, this is AT&T …
ME: Is this AT&T.?
AT&T: Yes! This is AT&T, may I speak to Mr. Byron, please?

Current state of my eReader cover…:S
So I spent all day yesterday and today making papier mache clay and the Mockingjay pin which is supposed to go on my book cover.
I cut out a photocopy of the mockingjay from the book cover and glued it to some cardboard. I think covered each piece with the clay because I know I could know mold all that on my own (could you imagine?)
So here it is all dry and put together:

(p.s. that’s the hardcover book I’m using as my base)
anyway, in between that I papier maché’d the hardcover with papertowel for a leathery look.
however, There was one thing I had almost overlooked. If I covered the entire cover, I wouldn’t be able to open or close the book!! So I used some left over Flash Controller Holder material and covered just the spine and bendy parts of the book then then maché’d away!

You can somewhat see the texture that the paper towel gives.
As that was drying I painted the mockingjay gold!!!!

I’m a little bit disappointed because it looks obviously made by hand, but I do love that aspect of it as well…it’s a love hate thing i have with most of my projects.
When I got home to my dry book to get ready to paint….I’ve hit quite a snag:

IT’S RIDICULOUSLY BENDY!!!
I don’t know what to do other than wet the other side and hope after it dries it evens out?
if not I’ll have to papier maché the underside as well…
Maybe I’ll wet it and put something heavy on top to flatten it while it dries :S
Any ideas?
corgipaws asked: I envy your deer hat making skills. Js. ;u;
haha thanks!! It was super fun! probably my favourite project so far.
eReader cover has been decided
Going to make a book with a wait for it….Mockingjay pin on it.
I found this recipe for papier mache clay that I’ve been eager to try ever since I saw it. So I’m super happy I have thought of a use for it!!
Sarah had a great idea to make the back of it look leathery, and I was looking on other sites and they use papter towels…genious!! so I’m going to make it look like a leather bound book.
I’m just worried about the crease where it opens lol. I’ll have to be carful not to put anything in there…I’ll probably have to put a piece of tape or something to take off when I want it to dry :p
I’m going to make some little decals in the corners to look like gold leafing. I’m thinking of making a press from cardboard, so I can have an imprint while it dries and then I can paint with gold paint in side it.
Then I’ll put a quote in red paint after everything has dried….I’m not sure if I want it on the front after seeing my draft idea:

I might put it on the back
